-Working hard, but with pleasure

-Concerning our Low Vision Centre, we are working hard, but with pleasure during the summer. Tuesday this week, again we have been to Tiraspol and checked eight children. There is a lot of work to be done there as well as for our patients at home, says Dr Tatiana Ghidirimshi, director of Help Moldova’s Low Vision Centre.
.

-Today we had a very special case! A woman came to us with only 2% of vision, and only 5 degrees of visual field. Her diagnosis is «Retinitis pigments». This means that she hardly could see anything. For the last 20 years she could not read at all, and she thought that she would never be able to read again. But today at our Centre this happened: By means of  CCTV she saw letters and words and started to read again! She was crying with all her voice because of happiness, and we were crying too! The woman told us that she is very, very, very happy! Now she realizes she will be able to help her young daughter who, for first time, is going to school this autumn. .

Like a miracle when she for the first time, after 20 years, could read again…

Tatiana also tells that she and her colleagues at the Low Vision Centre, doctor Stela and nurse Liuba, very much enjoy working at Kindergarden No 44 in Tiraspol. Last Thursday they examined 8 children.
